Go green this summer

Here at Manchester we’re always striving to become more sustainable and more socially responsible. You can do your bit too.

Eat well, for less (impact on the environment)

Have you heard of the Veg Box People? They have a veg box scheme where you can buy seasonal locally grown, organic and responsibly sourced fresh veg (and sometimes a bit of fruit) and you can pick it up from behind Uni Place on a Tuesday.

Go meat free

Did you know tucked away behind George Kenyon building is a vegetarian and vegan cafe? The Greenhouse cafe serves up hot and cold food to eat in or takeaway, uses veg from the Veg Box People and is a haven for a decent brew. *note from editor – the quiche is delicious*. Why not enjoy a socially responsible but delicious lunch during the summer?

Ditch the car!

The University can support you in switching from petrol to pedal or foot power. The UMBUG group and UMRun groups organise free breakfasts and other social events to encourage you to use your feet to get to work.
