Future Learning

DigiLab returns!

Join us on the Lower Ground Floor of the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons on Thursday, 15 March. There’s no need to book, just come along to get hands-on with groundbreaking tech.

This time, it’s a DigiLab with a difference as we focus on retro technology. Experiment with historic highlights, from iconic 80s and 90s video games to an old braille machine. Come down and see how past innovations have influenced today’s technology.

Manchester-based game maker Dan Hett will be demonstrating his latest work, and you’ll also be able to explore the latest in virtual reality. Step on to the VR Kat Walk to explore new realities using its cutting edge omnidirectional VR treadmill and rig. See a 3D printer in action, and use Google Blocks to create and print your own VR designs. Hop on board Clicks and Links’ VR bike, and learn how they use tech to build effective infrastructure for cyclists.

Want to demo something you’ve made for uni or for fun? Need people to participate in research or get feedback? Email us to get involved: digilab@manchester.ac.uk
