If you’re one of the lucky ones staying on campus over the Easter break, this could be a great time to get started on revision and to catch-up on all the assignments you have to do.
With that in mind, here’s a full list of what’s open (and closed) over Easter to help you plan your time.
The Main Library will be open from 8am to 8pm on weekdays until 15 April, and 9am to 5pm on weekends. It will also be closed Friday, 30 March to Monday, 2 April.
The Alan Gilbert Learning Commons will stay 24/7 until Thursday 29 March and will resume on 3 April. Slightly shorter hours will be implemented on the Easter weekend:
- Friday, 30 March: 9am to 9pm
- Saturday, 31 March: 9am to 5pm
- Sunday, 1 April: 9am to 5pm
- Monday, 2 April: 9am to 9pm

If you’d like a more relaxed environment to catch up on your work, the Atrium on the first floor of University Place will be open from 10-4pm over the vacation excluding bank holidays.
The Aquatics Centre will be open with their normal hours throughout the break but will have reduced hours (7am-6pm) on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
If you feel like you’d need some support and advice on issues affecting your student life, the Student Support hot line (0161 275 3033/3781) will be open during the break from 10-4pm on weekdays.
The Counselling Service offers one to one appointments with a counsellor if you need someone to speak to about whatever is causing you difficulty. This will be available as always from 9am – 4pm, Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays. Check their website for more information or phone them on 0161 275 2864.
Food on campus
Some of the cafés and restaurants around campus will be operating shorter opening hours or closing for the Easter break. You can find their Easter opening hours on their website. Here are some of the cafe’s open during the break:
- Greenhouse (George Kenyon Hall) : 8am-3pm
- MBS East Costa (AMBS) : 8am-3pm
- Vasaio (Simon Building) : 8am-3pm
- Cafe North (Barnes Wallis Hub) : 9am-3pm
During the Easter break, IT Services will not be answering any requests submitted by web or via email between 5pm Thursday 29 March and 8am Tuesday 3 April.
However, the telephone support line and Knowledge Base are open throughout the break, 24 hours a day.

The Students’ Union
The Students’ Union will be closed from Monday 26 March to Tuesday 3 April.
