The winners of the Postgraduate Summer Research Showcase 2018 were announced at the event on the 26th June. The event showcased the quality of The University’s postgraduate research by giving PhD and Masters’ students the opportunity to communicate their ideas to a diverse audience through a single poster or image.
The day itself was a great chance for students to make new connections with researchers and academics from across the University.
Winners of each competition won a grand prize of £250. There were also Runner Up awards, People’s Choice Image winners and Online People’s Choice Image winners.
Kristian Hoeck (Faculty of Humanities) won the PGR Research Image Competition with his captivating image of Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro styling his HI5 robot (see image above).
In the PGT Research Image Competition, Elisabetta D’Amico (Faculty of Humanities) won the main prize. Her image captured a female rice picker in China, empowered by her role which crucially boosts the region of Gulin’s economy (see image below).
Laura Driessen (Faculty of Science and Engineering), Choen Yin Chan (Faculty of Humanities) and Elizabeth McManus (Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health) won the PSRS Poster competition.
The judges also awarded Anna Beukenhorst (Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health) as the overall winner of the PSRS iPoster competition.
