Everyone has the right to live, work and study in an environment free from harassment or discrimination. This behaviour is never ok and we want all our community, staff, students and visitors to feel welcome.
A new campaign launched at the beginning of October – Speak Up Stand Up – encourages everyone to become active bystanders. The campaign, a joint collaboration between the University and the Students’ Union aims to empower, educate and build confidence for people to be able to safely take action against all forms of harassment. Whether it’s online or in person we are asking everyone to*;
- See it
- Know it’s a problem
- Take responsibility
- Take action
*It’s important to remember that your safety comes first and you should only intervene if you feel comfortable.
Co-produced with Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors, Speak Up Stand Up covers a whole range of areas and there are lots of ways you can get involved. Various events will be taking place throughout the year covering a range of topics. You can become a Speak Up Stand Up Diversity Champion by completing the online training. Finally you can take the pledge to become an active bystander.
