The National Student Survey (NSS 2019) is your chance to speak up. Whether you feel your time as a student has been great, or you feel that some aspects could have been better, the completely anonymous survey, operated by Ipsos Mori is a unique opportunity to voice your opinions.
All finalists eligible to complete the NSS will have received communications from Ipsos Mori with a link to the survey. But you can also go directly to the NSS website and complete the survey at any time. You’ll also be encouraged by your school to complete the survey
Share your thoughts and give to charity
For every completed survey, we will be making a donation to charity. We will donate £1 split between four charities.
This year the charities have been chosen because of their strong ties with student volunteers or because their work is closely aligned to the University’s social responsibility goals. Take a look how the donations will help.
But more importantly, we really want to hear about your time here. The NSS is the only national survey of its kind and asks your views on a range of topics that have affected your time at University – from teaching, feedback and support to resources and how we’ll you’ve been listened to during you’re time here.
The results give us a clear picture as to whether we’re delivering an excellent, high quality student experience for everyone. We hope we are – but without you’re feedback we don’t know for sure.
Many University-wide changes and innovations in facilities, services or learning experiences are responses to student feedback. Recent examples include improvements to feedback times, the introduction of same day counselling appointments and the introduction of the University Podcast service. Last year 60,000 hours of lectures were recorded and recent years have seen the introduction of video capture in 30 lecture theatres. Recent investment in sports facilities was also driven by student feedback, and today we are the only University in the UK with six full sized, floodlit all-weather pitches all in one place.
At course level there are examples of the introduction of work experience placements, the movement of course handbooks online and improvements to social spaces.
