Light up the city and say no to sexual violence against women, street harassment and victim blaming.
Reclaim the Night is an annual campaign organised by the Students’ Union that marches for safety on the streets, and against violence against women who feel unsafe. This year the march will take place on Thursday 21 February.
Meeting at Owens Park at 6:30pm, the march will start here and head up Oxford Road finishing at the Students’ Union. This powerful and inspiring event is open to the whole community. There are a variety of the blocs in the march including a Women’s Bloc, Youth and Families Bloc, LGBTQ+ Bloc and Speak Up Stand Up Bloc. After the march the evening continues with a Reclaim the Night after party at the Students’ Union.

The main objectives of this year’s campaign are:
- To increase lighting in highly populated student areas such as Fallowfield, Rusholme and Withington.
- To lobby the council to stop cuts to Women’s Shelters and increase further funding for local services.
- Increase awareness of places where people can report acts of violence and incidents.
