The 6th annual Postgraduate Research Summer Showcase will be held on Wednesday 12 June 2019 in the Whitworth Hall and is your chance to showcase your research, and be in with a chance of winning up to £250.
This year, the event will feature around 150 research posters, the ‘research in action’ image competition, a selection of finalists from the University heats of the Three Minute Thesis competition , the Plant and Hope project and will conclude with the MDC Excellence and showcase awards. It promises to be a great chance to be a part of the University’s vibrant research community and to meet other students and researchers.
So, why not get involved and present your research? The showcase offers a supportive environment where you can work on your communication skills by presenting and discussing your research with judges and visitors.
Poster Showcase
Posters provide are a great way to express research in new and exciting ways and open up dialogue with a diverse audience – from specialists familiar with the subject area, to people simply curious to know more, a poster can be the starting point for some very insightful conversations.

There is a prize of £250 for the best poster and a £100 runner up from each faculty.
The deadline for abstracts is 26th April
Image Competition
By stripping away all the technical language and leaving behind the core question of your research, an image can allow you to highlight your research’s overall impact without having to explain all the technical details.
The broad theme for images is “Research in Action” and you are free to interpret this theme as broadly as you like.

There are three prizes in the category:
- Best overall image – £150
- On the day people’s choice winner – £50
- Online people’s choice winner – £50
