The University Challenge selection process is taking place very shortly!
Do you think you’ve got what it takes to represent The University of Manchester on the 2020 edition of University Challenge?
The first stage of the selection process is a written test of 100 general knowledge questions, which will take place on Wednesday 13 November 2019 in the Rutherford Lecture Theatre in the Schuster Building. It will start at 2 pm, but you can turn up at any time provided that you finish the test by 5.45 pm (you shouldn’t need to spend more than about 45 minutes on the test.)
Those with the highest score will be invited to a test of speed on the buzzer answering University Challenge starter questions. This will take place later the same day, between 7pm and 8pm.
We have a great record in the competition – we’re one of the most successful universities (alongside Magdalen College, Oxford) after winning the show four times (in 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2013). So are you for the challenge of keeping us at the top? No need to book in advance, just turn up with your general knowledge!
Further information about the selection process can be found here.
In this year’s competition, The University of Manchester are currently through to the second round after beating Jesus College, Oxford 184 – 145. Keep your eye out for this year’s team in the second round!
