Following the ballot results last week, we have been informed by the University and College Union (UCU) of the details of their planned industrial action:
- Strike action 25-29 November 2019
- Strike action 2-4 December 2019
- Continuous action short of a strike from 25 November 2019
We know that pay and pensions are important to our staff and we fully recognise the right of UCU members to take industrial action. However, we will also seek to minimise disruption, especially to our students.
We advise all students to work on the basis that your studies will continue as normal unless you are told otherwise. This means that you should attend scheduled teaching, complete and submit assessments by the relevant deadlines, and continue to plan for any examinations. The University will not benefit from any pay which is deducted from staff and will instead use it for the benefit of our students.
We will keep you informed and provide you with regular updates.
Kind regards
April McMahon
Vice-President for Teaching, Learning and Students
