Feedback to the open letter from PGRs: How we’re working to improve your experience.

Reading Time: < 1 minute

As many of you will be aware, a cross Faculty group of PGRs recently raised a number of concerns about their experience at Manchester in an open letter addressed to the Senior Leadership Team.

Manchester Doctoral College (MDC), is responsible for supporting all PGRs, and thank the PGRs for their considered views and their suggestions for improving the PGR experience at Manchester. MDC will feed the suggestions into existing action plans developed in response to feedback from other channels, including the 2019 Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) results.

A copy of the full response to the open letter from MDC can be found here.  We take feedback of any kind seriously and work to respond to concerns from postgraduate researchers. For example, we recently launched a PGR Supervisor Toolkit. The toolkit brings together information and guidance about all aspects of research supervision and signposts to useful services and relevant policies and regulations. The aim of the toolkit is to support supervisors in meeting their responsibilities and to contribute to creating a positive and supportive environment for all PGRs. This is just one example of the work that MDC is undertaking to respond to concerns raised by PGRs and we hope to share more in the coming months.

MDC welcomes feedback at any time and you can share your ideas through your representative or by contacting mdc@manchester.ac.uk
