Intermittent access to University Services – Updated 5th May 2020

IT Services are aware of intermittent issues connecting to University services

This includes (but is not limited to) access to University websites, Blackboard, Remote access and Global Protect. This morning, it may take you several attempts to log into GlobalProtect.

This is under urgent investigation and we’ll keep you updated.

Update 1 (10am):

Work on the issue continues as a matter of urgency. There is not yet an estimated time to fix, however IT Services are investigating this as their highest priority, working to get you back online as soon as possible.

Update 2 (10.24am):

As the current issues are intermittent, you may find that you are able to access services after more than one attempt.

Update 3 (12.10pm)

Work is still ongoing on this issue. We fully understand the impact that this is having on the work of our staff and students; please be assured that our colleagues are continuing to work with our external partners to get this issue resolved as soon as we can. We are still recommending to try several attempts if you are unable to log in.

Update 5th May

Working with our network provider Jisc, measures have been put in place to deal with the intermittent connectivity issues experienced over the past two days by a number of UK education institutions, including ours..

Monitoring overnight has shown that performance of our services has remained stable since approximately 2pm on Monday. However, due to the impact this has had on both students and staff, we will continue to closely monitor the service and act accordingly.
