As the new academic year is now fully underway, there’s no doubt that the adverts for careers related events will have already started popping up. Even though you’ve just started back and may think it’s too early to be talking about Careers, the time will pass quickly. And given what’s happened over the past six months and how the general job market has changed, it’s a good idea to start thinking about your future sooner rather than later.
Over this semester, the Careers Service will be holding lots of events and workshops for you to attend and help prepare you for the future. Whether you’re just starting to think about potential career pathways or you’re actively looking for vacancies, now is the perfect time to get some insight into the different sectors and industries out there. Added to this you can find out what the current process is for applying for internships or placements, or how you can gain experience and make the most out of your time when opportunities aren’t as readily available.
During October our Careers events and virtual fairs will be packed out with a range of exhibitors and organisations on hand to give you any of the information you need to take the next step in thinking about your career.
Future Fortnight – Monday, 19 October – Friday, 30 October 2020

If you’re not thinking about a placement, or going into a job straight after University keep an eye out for The Postgraduate Study Fair and Postgraduate virtual open week both taking place in November, or check out the Careers website for other options of what you might do following your studies. Remember it’s never too early to start planning for your future.
