It feels like everything is constantly changing at the moment, and we know it can be tough to keep up. So, as the semester is well and truly underway we thought it was a good time to remind you of the Library’s current service offering so you know exactly how you can currently access everything you need from books, to study space and wellbeing support:
The Library’s current offer includes:
Click and Collect:
You can access books from the following sites:
- Main Library
- Joule Library
- Eddie Davies Library
- Lenagan Library
- Art and Archaeology Library
- Stopford Library
- Kantorowich Library
To request a book, you’ll need to log in to Library Search and locate the book you want, then click the ‘Request’ button. Once you have requested a book, you will receive an email notification when the book is ready for collection.
Books requested from the Main Library, Eddie Davies Library, Lenagan Library, the Art and Archaeology Library, Stopford Library and Kantorowich Library can be collected from the Main Library.
Books requested from Joule Library can be collected from either the Main Library or Joule Library.
Bookable study space:
There are over 800 bookable study spaces available at Main Library, the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons, Joule Library and Stopford Library. You can find out more about study spaces and how to book a space here.
Printing, photocopying and scanning:
You can print, copy and scan to email at the Main Library, the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons and Joule Library and you don’t need to book ahead – find out more here.
Accessing online resources
We’ve long had one of the largest collections of electronic resources in the UK, and during the pandemic we’ve seen publishers providing access to even more resources. We’re keeping up to date with all new resources and you can find out how to access everything here.
Special Collections:
Some of the Library’s Special Collections have been digitised and are available online, you can search our digital collections here.
We are also providing limited in-person access to physical Special Collections held at the John Rylands Library and the Main Library for all researchers, and there will be three spaces available at each site. You can find out more about accessing special collections here.
Support and advice:
If you need help with anything Library related, there is 24/7 Library and IT Support available via Library Chat.
Student Wellbeing:
We’re really pleased to let you know what the Student Wellbeing team are now available to answer any wellbeing or support queries at the Student Wellbeing Desk in Main Library between 1pm-4pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The Library are gradually reopening their library spaces and services to support your learning and research. Make sure you bookmark the University’s Service availability page so you can always check which services are available to you.
Hopefully you’ll find most of the resources you need, but if you do need to buy a text book and need it in a hurry, Blackwell’s Bookshop on University Green are offering free same day delivery for orders that are in stock and placed before 3pm.
