The Students’ Union has launched a peer to peer Buddy Scheme to support students who feel isolated as a result of current COVID-19 restrictions.
Right now, we know that many of our students are going through a difficult time, especially those who need to isolate or those who are new to Manchester and are unable to meet people, especially with the newest lock-down restrictions in place for at least the next four weeks.
Recognising that students would like more support but also that they would like to provide support each other, the Students’ Union hope the Buddy Scheme will help provide social support to students who feel isolated. Students who wish to participate in the scheme will be matched with student volunteers for weekly catch-ups via phone or video call.
Participants and volunteers will be matched based on their hobbies, interests or course, making the scheme a great opportunity to make a new friend!
For students who want to get involved as a volunteer, full training and support will be provided. Plus, the scheme is a great opportunity for students to develop skills in peer support and counts towards your Stellify award.
