The Anything but Research fund is open! We are looking to support projects that will take place in Semester 2 of the 2020-2021 academic year.
‘Anything but Research’ (AbR) is a PGR-led initiative to help fellow research students fund activities that are to do with anything but their research.
AbR aims to improve PGR experience and wellbeing by encouraging students to pitch ideas that will bring PGRs from across the University together and help develop a healthy work life balance.
The maximum amount for consideration is £2,500 per application, however projects with smaller budgets are more likely to secure funding.
The change in how we’re all working brought about by the pandemic often means that our work life balance has become even more blurred, which is why the AbR projects are even more important than ever for our PGR community.
Despite the COVID-19 regulations, there are still plenty of ways for students to meet, have fun and decompress. We are happy to support projects such as online events, virtual clubs, games, and pub quizzes. If you have an idea for a project that could work, please don’t hesitate to apply!
For example, this year, AbR has funded an online book club (Read and Vent Book Club) and virtual game nights (online escape rooms, Tabletopia), so it is definitely possible to develop your project despite current restrictions.
Activities just have to be open to all PGRs from across the University, and as the name suggests nothing to do with your research!
This funding round is open until 15th February 2021, so there’s still plenty of time to get thinking about what you could do.
