This month the Whitworth Art Gallery is launching a new idea called ‘Whitworth Invents.’ The gallery is looking for creative, imaginative and enthusiastic students of all disciplines to participate. You could be in with a chance of having your ideas displayed online, and potentially when possible, in the Whitworth’s new School of Creativity.
How to get involved
The ‘Invent Challenges’ will be sent out fortnightly on the gallery’s twitter platform (@WhitworthArt) for you to respond to as imaginatively and creatively as you wish.
An example challenge: ‘Can you invent an art gallery for the future?’
You can work individually or in groups to complete challenges. If you are interested in working in groups, please act in line with the latest government advice on COVID-19.
Once you are happy with your invention please send us a picture and description of your invention on Twitter @WhitworthArt using the #WhitworthInvents with a chance to be selected and displayed online and when possible in the Whitworth’s new School of Creativity – an experimental, shared workspace to celebrate all forms of creativity and to test out new ideas. A space to learn together through play, making and doing.
The first challenge is being launched this Wednesday, 17 February, so keep your eyes peeled!
The Whitworth encourages collaboration and problem solving – how do you interpret art? How can we make it useful? #WhitworthInvents is a space for creativity, friendship and fun – everyone is welcome. We look forward to seeing your inventions!
