First steps to flexible learning – We want to hear your views

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The last year has seen a large amount of our teaching and learning delivered online, which has brought both successes and challenges for you, and also our staff.

As part of our commitment to developing our teaching and learning into the future, the University has established the Flexible Learning Programme to build on what we’ve learnt over the last year, to embedflexible learning into our teaching and learning strategy, for the coming years.

The Flexible Learning Programme needs your help to explore what flexible learning should look like at our University. One thing is certain – it will be very different to the online shift of this year, but we need to better understand your experiences to ensure our future offer works to enhance your studies.

Thank you to all our taught students who have already submitted their positive responses and constructive criticism to online learning through the recent Semester 1 unit evaluation surveys, and also through wider research conducted by the Students’ Union. We want to build on this feedback, to ensure student voices are central in shaping our future strategy for flexible learning. Specifically, we’d like to hear your views on:

  • The aspects of online learning you enjoyed;
  • where you faced challenges;
  • which elements of online learning you might want to keep in the future, and;
  • how we can expand on what we’ve learnt, to develop a true flexible learning model for the future.

Join our open meeting

All students, taught and research, are invited to join our open meeting – ‘First steps to flexible learning’, which takes place on 13 April 2021 from 11.00am to 12.00pm. The session will also be live streamed and recorded for playback if you are unable to attend on the day.

Get in touch

We’d also invite you to tell us about your experiences by sending an email to Professor Dan George, Associate Vice-President for Blended Learning, and Professor Steve Pettifer, University Academic Lead for Digital Learning, at: avp-bl@manchester.ac.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Dan and Steve
