The Brilliant Club is an award-winning access charity that recruits, trains and pays doctoral and post-doctoral researchers to deliver programmes of university-style teaching to pupils in schools that serve under-represented communities.
Tutors on the Scholars programme work with their groups to deliver a series of tutorials that stretch pupils beyond the curriculum, and help them to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to secure places at top universities. Tutors design and deliver a course based on their own research. At the end of the programme pupils submit an assignment which is marked by their tutor.
The deadline of 31st March is approaching for summer term placements
As a Brilliant club Scholars programme tutor, not only will you earn £500 per placement, but also gain valuable teaching experience as well as the chance to develop new skills in public engagement . Above all, you will also join a cohort of like-minded researchers who are interested in widening access to highly-selective universities. Full training is provided by qualified teachers and researchers.
In addition to the Scholars programme this year, The Brilliant Club is planning to be part of the national effort to support schools in addressing the impact of Covid-19 school closures on pupils through the National Tutoring Programme. As part of this, there will be specific tutoring opportunities for researchers specialising in English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
