Update on licence agreements in University accommodation

Reading Time: < 1 minute

As the pandemic and subsequent restrictions continue, we have agreed a series of updates to our licence agreements across our Halls of Residence. We have written directly to all residents detailing these changes.

As a summary, for all students with a licence agreement in University owned and leased Halls of Residence, the following will apply:

  1. Residents who have been unable to return to their accommodation since 4 January 2021 will not be charged until restrictions are lifted. There is no date yet on when this will be and the University will continue to monitor information received from the Department of Education.
  2. Residents who have been unable to return to halls will have adjustments made to their licence fee account. Payments will be due on 4 June 2021.
  3. Residents who are currently living in halls will be required to pay the licence fee payment on 21 April 2021.
  4. Our Accommodation pledge allowed that, for this year only, we will allow residents to break their licence agreements with no penalty. Due to the ongoing restrictions and after feedback from residents, this option will remain in place until 30 April 2021.

For any queries relating to this, please contact the University’s Accommodation Office: accommodation@manchester.ac.uk.
