To unlock additional teaching and study spaces for students in the Faculty of Science and Engineering we have taken the decision to provide early access to many of the teaching and learning spaces in the new Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD), well ahead of the official opening in September 2022.
Opening MECD early will give access to hundreds of new high quality study spaces with power and WiFi, 52 purpose built teaching rooms, and four computer clusters from this September. You will also find a brand new café, close to the main entrance, and a dedicated student support hub in Engineering Building A.
You may find that you’re timetabled into MECD and/or you may wish to use the informal study spaces and computer clusters on offer – providing you with greater flexibility in how and where you choose to learn on campus.
Whilst this is a fantastic opportunity to welcome our students in to the impressive MECD teaching facilities, please bear in mind that there is likely to be ongoing disruption as the project is far from completion and managed works will be taking place throughout teaching time around the buildings. The MECD Project Team will be working hard behind the scenes to manage disturbance and minimise the impact wherever possible, however there are likely to be times where noise and noticeable activity associated with the internal construction works will be present.
We look forward to welcoming you to our exciting new home for engineering and material sciences from September 2021, as some of the very first people to walk through the doors into these brand-new facilities!
