IT Services plan to perform some general network maintenance on Saturday 21, Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 August 2021, which will result in some short periods of interruption to Wi-Fi across campus, and all network access in some buildings.
An overview of the work
- Saturday 21 August: Wi-Fi interruptions across campus, and localised interruptions to all network access in some University buildings
- Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 August:Localised interruptions to all network access in some University buildings.
Saturday 21 August
Between 8.30am and 10.30am, there will be four five-minute interruptions to Wi-Fi (eduroam, UoM_WiFi and UoM_Guest) across the entire campus, including halls.
Also, during the day, there will be a 15-minute loss of all network services (wired and Wi-Fi) in some buildings. The halls of residence affected are listed below. Due to the nature of the work, it’s not possible to state at exactly which time during the one-hour window that the 15-minute interruptions will occur, but the team will aim to schedule the outage at the start of each window:
- 11.30am – 12.30pm: Broomcroft House
- 2pm-3pm: Horniman House
- 3pm-4pm: Unsworth Park
- 4pm-5pm: Dalton Ellis Hall, Hulme Hall and St Anselm Hall.
On Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 August:
On both days, the same halls shown above will experience a 5-10 minute loss of all network services (wired and Wi-Fi) between 6pm and 8pm.
Due to the nature of the work, it’s not possible to state at exactly which time during the two hour window that the interruptions will occur.
