Strike action 1-3 December: How it may affect you

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Last week we received confirmation from UCU that their members will be taking strike action on 1, 2 and 3 December 2021. They will also take ‘action short of a strike’ continuously from 1 December, ending no later than 3 May 2022.

The University will remain open throughout the strike action – our aim is for activities and facilities to run as close to a normal service as possible. However there may be an impact on your teaching or research supervision, both on strike days and (to a lesser extent) during the action short of a strike.

To find out more about the strike action and how it may affect you, see our strike action information for students.

UCU members at Manchester include both lecturers and other staff involved in university life, such as those who work in the Library and elsewhere across campus.

We recognise the right of colleagues to take this action, but are extremely concerned about the impact on our whole community, particularly on our students who have suffered so much over the past 20 months.

We understand how important pay, employment conditions and pensions are to colleagues – we take their views and concerns very seriously.

We will do everything we can to minimise any impact of the strike action on students, and will keep you updated with any further developments or information as we receive it.
