Stan’s Secret Santa: Manchester Museum’s Christmas gift appeal

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Help make a big difference to someone’s Christmas this year.

This has been a difficult year for so many already, and with energy and food prices on the rise, the preparations for Christmas presents brings even more challenges for some in our local community. Therefore, Manchester Museum is organising a Christmas Gift Appeal in partnership with Invisible Cities, which will help support people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Manchester.

On Tuesday 7 December, our Fossils Gallery will be open from 10am to 4.30pm so that people can drop off donations.

We are looking for unwrapped gifts to be donated and our wish list includes:

  • Chocolate (selection boxes)
  • Hot water bottles
  • Hot chocolate
  • Mugs
  • Christmas crackers
  • Sweets
  • Christmas decorations
  • Christmas fun activities
  • Puzzle books
  • Books
  • Warm scarves/gloves
  • Toys

We will then carefully and lovingly wrap the gifts ready for distribution.

As building work for the ‘hello future’ transformation continues in the museum, you will need to enter the Fossils Gallery via the Old Quad, through the Beyer Building.

And keep an eye out for Stan… our Artist in Residence, Lucy Burscough has made and donated a Santa Hat big enough to fit a T-rex. Make sure to grab a #DinoSelfie when dropping off your presents!
