In order to free up capacity in PCR testing sites, the public health authorities in Manchester have changed their recommendation that all students take a PCR test before they return to University in January 2022.
We are now asking all students to take a rapid COVID-19 lateral flow test before your return to University as per national DFE guidance and to get your 1st or 2nd dose vaccination or booster vaccination if you haven’t already. Students with symptoms should still get a PCR test and report any positive cases or self-isolation.
During term time, you are also encouraged to take two COVID-19 lateral flow tests every week (three to four days apart), even if you are fully vaccinated, to prevent the spread of the virus.
Delivery capacity for COVID-19 lateral flow tests has been increased and tests should be available from most local pharmacies and online. If you have not been able to get the test you need from gov.uk, please keep checking every few hours as more rapid tests become available every day.
You can find out more information about testing and vaccinations on our on our COVID-19 testing webpage.
