Reclaim the Night is back!

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Reclaim the Night is the Students’ Unions’ annual campaign against sexual harassment and gender-based violence.

Each year students take to the streets to march for an end to gender-based violence, and the right to feel safe on our streets at night. It gives women a voice and a chance to reclaim the streets at night in a safe and empowering event.

This year, Reclaim the Night is calling on Manchester University and Greater Manchester Combined Authorities to proactively work to protect and support sex-workers across Manchester, and there’s lots of ways you can get involved.

As well as marching for an end to gender-based violence and sexual harassment, the Students’ Union will be holding a series of events to fundraise and raise awareness for women’s charities in the weeks leading up to Reclaim The Night. These include banner/placard making sessions, a self- defense class, film screenings and panel discussions.

Join in on the 22nd March, 6:30pm at Owens Park and march with us to Reclaim the Night. You can also hear from speakers, share a minute’s silence in remembrance and enjoy a series of after events.

Find out more, including a list of all the events, on the Student’s Union website.
