The University of Manchester’s inaugural film festival is taking place next week! Calling all film fans and filmmakers, the UoM Film Festival will celebrate films made by students at the University and give the opportunity to showcase the talent of the next generation of aspiring filmmaking talent in Manchester.
Organised by Drama & Film Student Madi French, here is what she had to say about the genesis and motivation behind setting up the event:
If you are interested in attending, it is an open-to-all, free event held in the Martin Harris Centre’s very own John Casken theatre from 6pm onwards on May 30th 2022.
If you are interested in submitting your film, the deadline is May 24th. Any film, vlog or video diary under 15 minutes length can be submitted to macey.french@student.manchester.ac.uk, accompanied by the following information:
- Name

- Degree
- Movie Title
- Trigger Warning (if applicable)
- Up to 250 word description

The University has many opportunities to get into film and media, with its annual Women in Media Conference held by the Manchester Media Group; FuseTV and FuseFM stations, Filmmaking Society, and the Mancunion Newspaper (which was recently voted best student publication in the UK!).
