Essential IT maintenance will result in a campus-wide network outage of up to five seconds at 1.30pm on Wednesday 26 October, followed by up to ten minutes of slower than usual performance.
This may temporarily affect access to services connected to the University network, including Wi-Fi, wired network access, email, GlobalProtect VPN, Blackboard, My Manchester and more.
IT Services colleagues will be closely monitoring the network during and after the work, to ensure all services return as expected. If there are any issues then the work will be backed out which will result in a further campus-wide network outage of up to five seconds, followed by up to ten minutes of slower than usual performance. In this event please allow at least 30 minutes for services to return to normal.
This urgent work involves replacing key equipment in our data centre and is expected to resolve the recent issues we’ve had with network performance.
We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
