National Rail services will be disrupted on the following days due to strike action which may disrupt travel over the next few months:
The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT Union) has announced strikes on:
- 13-14 December
- 16-17 December
- 3-4 January
- 6-7 January
Rail services will be cancelled or severely disrupted, and it is likely that there will be a very limited service on these days with no trains at all on some routes. You can keep up to date with the latest information via the National Rail website.
What you need to do
We advise students to check their timetables as soon as possible. If you travel by train and feel that you are not going to be able to get to campus due to the rail strikes, please contact your course tutor as soon as possible if you feel you are not going to be able to make a teaching session that day.
Alternative travel options
If you do need to travel to campus during strike action we recommend you use alternative transport to travel in and around Manchester – Transport for Greater Manchester can help you plan your journey.
Winter Graduation ceremonies
Winter Graduations are taking place from 12 – 16 December 2022. For graduands and guests due to attend Graduation on affected days, we advise you to be aware of potential travel issues and to plan accordingly to arrive on campus two hours before the start of your ceremony.
