When: Wednesday 22nd March; 09:30 – 16:30 (lunch and refreshments provided)
Where: Alliance Manchester Business School
Everyone loves the arts and creative industries – yet many cultural organisations struggle to make ends meet. At a time of rising costs and stagnating wages, it’s essential that organisations create products and services their audiences need, at prices they can afford.
If you were given the opportunity to reinvent an art gallery, how would you do it?
At this full-day interactive workshop, for all postgraduate researchers, you’ll develop your commercial awareness, critical thinking, and creative communication skills.
Using The Whitworth Art Gallery as a case study you will work in small groups to analyse what the business currently does, and who its visitors are with the aim of developing new opportunities to bring in different audiences.
You do not need any business experience or a start-up idea to attend this free 1 day-workshop.

Masood Entrepreneurship Centre
The Masood Entrepreneurship Centre (MEC) is the focal point for enterprise and entrepreneurship programmes for students and researchers at The University of Manchester. Our activity is available across the campus to provide as many opportunities as possible for you to gain valuable experience and develop an entrepreneurial mind-set. For some of you it will be about developing skills and confidences; for others it will be about looking at the impact of your research and addressing a commercial opportunity.
