We are currently working closely with specialist public health colleagues due to a suspected case of meningitis.
As a precaution we have identified close contacts of the student who has been taken ill and arranged for them to receive preventative treatment. Whilst we believe we have contacted everyone considered to be at even minor risk, please be aware of the early signs and symptoms of meningococcal disease; advice leaflets are available at the National Meningitis Trust.
In addition, information on specific symptoms to watch out for in young adults is available via the Meningitis Research Foundation.
If you are worried and think you might have been exposed to someone with meningitis you can call NHS 111 for advice.
