We’re pleased to announce that The University of Manchester Students’ Union have won the prize for Students’ Union of the Year in the Educate North Awards 2023!

This award is to celebrate an outstanding Students’ Union as part of a higher or further education institution. Judges were looking for evidence of innovation, engagement, support and an exceptional student experience within the North of the UK. The winners were announced at an awards ceremony on 27 April at The Midland Hotel.

The submission for the Students’ Union of the Year Award was driven by a few core elements;

  • Increased participation of students in societies, more and more students taking part in our voice work, and of course our democracy.
  • Manchester Academy Venues building back better than ever post pandemic with sell out shows contributing to the local economy of Greater Manchester.
  • And work-in-partnership with the University on the cost of living support earlier in the academic year.

Commenting on the win, Samantha Bronheim, the Students’ Union’s Union Affairs Officer, said:

“It’s a great honour to be recognised for the work the union has done this year. This win would not have been possible without the individual efforts from every single staff member and the executive officer team. We have not just been recognised for our services and the work we do for the student experience – but for the team that makes it all happen.”

This is a great achievement for the Students’ Union and we’d like to extend a huge congratulations to all those involved!

The Educate North Awards is a celebration of excellence and best practice in the education sector in the North of England. The event itself attracted over 300 education professionals from Further and Higher Education institutions from across the region.
