As part of the University’s commitment to providing meaningful volunteering opportunities and promoting social responsibility overseas, in summer 2020 we launched Team Rwanda, our international volunteering project exclusively for students at The University of Manchester.

This is a partnership project between the University and Azizi Life, a social enterprise based in Rwanda. Azizi Life runs a number of community projects including supporting local artisans to build more sustainable practices and reach wider markets, and supporting adult literacy in the local community. Due to the pandemic, the project ran remotely for the first two years, so summer 2022 was our first in-person project, and now we are back again for summer 2023!
The student volunteers depart on Sunday evening (23rd July) and will arrive Monday morning (24th July) to begin their 4-week project in Rwanda alongside Rwandan volunteers. If you would like to hear more about the project and follow along with their volunteering journey, follow the blog here.
