We’re thrilled to have you join our University community in September and we loved welcoming thousands of you on Results Day through our Instagram Stories Q+A, our YouTube livestream and your amazing TikTok content.
To help you prepare for life as a Manchester student, we’ll be sending you weekly emails with useful hints, tips, and student stories, so keep an eye on your email inbox for more — including a survey that gives you the chance to win a £150 voucher for coffee shops on campus.
We know you’re going to have wonderful experiences, achieve ambitions and explore everything our University and city has to offer; and we’ll be here to support you every step of the way. Here’s a few key steps to take before you arrive:
Get your IT account ready
Your IT account is essential for accessing your student email, online resources and library services. Tap here to make sure it’s ready.
Complete your right to study check
You’ll need to complete this check to register as a student in September. Find out how here.
Need a visa?
If you’re an international student, you’ll need to make sure you have all the necessary visa documents to enter the UK. We’re here to help.
Register with a GP
You should register with a GP as soon as possible, so that you have access to medical care if you need it. You can tap here to register with our University GP Service, even if you don’t know your term time address yet.
Plan how you’ll get here
We’ve got a comprehensive travel guide to help your plan your journey to Manchester. And if you’re arriving at Manchester International Airport in September, you can book an airport collection slot.
Get stuck into the Library’s transition module
This online resource features videos from current students and key information on joining a new community, navigating relationships and the support available.
Find out more about your area of study
Use the course finder to find out more information about your area of study. These pages will provide you with a comprehensive guide with everything you need to know to start your course.
Get support with a mental health condition
If you’ve previously been diagnosed with a mental health condition, let us know. This will allow us to signpost you to our support and wellbeing services should you need them during your time at Manchester. It’s completely confidential.
Prepare for registration when you’re invited to in September
You’ll be invited to register as a student between Friday, 1 and Saturday, 30 September. You must have completed the IT sign-up process to do this. Invitations to complete this process will be emailed in batches, so don’t be concerned if other students receive their invitation to register before you!
Live chat with a current student if you need help
If you have any questions, you can live chat with a current student between Wednesday, 23 August and Wednesday, 13 September, Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 4:00pm.
We hope this information has been helpful and we’ll keep in touch with everything you need to know throughout your University experience but don’t forget to follow us on Instagram and TikTok for more.
