Never OK Support

North West Sexual Violence Awareness Week

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Last year, Advice and Response launched a Sexual Violence drop-in with Trafford Rape Crisis and the Students’ Union to support students affected by sexual violence. The drop-in’s purpose is to offer advice, support, or a listening ear to any student to talk about any form of sexual violence.

The drop-in has re-launched for the new academic year, with additional support from the LGBT Foundation, to ensure the space offers accessible support for all students. Whilst the drop-in is not a clinical or therapeutic drop-in, it is a safe space to talk to a specialist who understands sexual violence and has a knowledge of the help available in Greater Manchester. No matter when something happened, whether you’re confused about exactly what happened, or if you’re worried about a friend or loved one, all students are welcome to attend the drop-ins.

The next drop-in will take place on Thursday, 9 November 12pm (noon) – 2pm, during Sexual Violence Awareness Week. It will take place inside the Students’ Union Advice Service, which is located on the first floor of the Students’ Union and is accessible by the left-hand stairwell as you come into the SU building. If you go up the stairs and through the double doors, we’re right there. Alternatively, there is a lift by the right-hand stairwell. Take this to the first floor and go through the double doors. You’ll see, the Hive. Make your way to the opposite end of the Hive where you’ll see signs for the Advice Service and you’ll find the drop-in.

Colleagues from Trafford Rape Crisis and the LGBT Foundation will be sat at a table of leaflets, so you can easily spot them and go straight to them. You’ll then have the opportunity to speak to them in a confidential space. If you’re not sure who to speak to in the Advice Service, just ask their reception team for the Sexual Violence drop-in and they’ll be able to help. You can see the dates for the drop-in through the year below:
