The HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Record) is an electronic report that provides you with an official record of all your academic achievements, extra-curricular activities and awards or prizes. It is designed to ensure that all your experiences and accomplishments are recorded—meaning you have more to show to potential employers.
Most undergraduate students can access their HEAR after graduation.
Your HEAR gives you:
- Easy access to your academic achievement summary
- A transcript of results from your studies
- A full summary of your eligible extra-curricular activity
- An official record of your accomplishments that is verified by the University.
It is divided into sections and validates your achievements from your time at Manchester. The information in your HEAR includes:
- Personal details
- Qualification status
- Module Information
- Assessment results
- University verified extra-curricular activities.
HEARs are updated at the end of each academic year following results confirmation at Exam Boards, and exam results publication dates.

How can I use my HEAR?
The HEAR helps you to reflect on your achievements while you were studying and consider how these will be useful to a potential employer, as well as providing future employers with an official record of your accomplishments at university.
The content in the HEAR can be a useful starting point for answering job application questions, writing personal statements, or preparing for interviews. You can share your HEAR with potential employers and other Universities, giving them a verifiable and up to date record of your achievements.
How can employers use the HEAR?
The HEAR can be used to verify your qualification, grades, and achievements, to develop a better understanding of the knowledge and skills gained by you as part of your degree course and to gain insight into the types of extra-curricular activities which you engaged in and the prizes/awards you received.
The report also includes your diploma supplement which you may be asked to provide when applying for jobs or further study.
Further information about your HEAR can be found on the Student Support website.
Don’t forget to log your Stellify hours!
All the activities included in the Stellify Award are approved and verified activities, which if undertaken will appear on your HEAR record. If you complete all the activities required by the Stellify Award, you receive this prestigious award upon graduation. Don’t forget to log all your activities.
All volunteering hours must be logged on Volunteer Hub, except for volunteering through the University Sports Volunteer Scheme, which will be logged separately. If you have any questions, head to our upcoming drop-in Thursday 9 May, 1-3pm in The Atrium.
