We want you to get the most from your course and your university experience and be actively involved in your studies. If you do need help, we want to be able to quickly offer you the right support – whether that’s academic, wellbeing or anything else you might need.
From the start of the academic year in September, there will be a new way to log your attendance for teaching activities, using a Student Engagement and Attendance System (SEAtS). This will help us understand how you’re engaging and offer support if we think you might be struggling.
Have your say on our student attendance policy
This policy is being updated alongside the implementation of SEAtS. You can read a draft of the new policy and add your thoughts in the documents’ comments.
We encourage you to sign up here and attend an online drop-in session happening on 21 and 23 May to discuss the policy and ask any questions.
Good to know
Using SEAtS takes only three easy steps:
1. Download the SEAtS mobile app from the App Store or Google Play
2. Log in with your university email and password (we’ll let you know when you’ll have access)
3. Scan the QR code or enter the PIN on display in each teaching session
The new system will initially be used by undergraduate and taught postgraduate students based on campus only. It replaces other ways to register attendance like local registers and the visa check-in process.
To get initial thoughts and feedback on using the new system, we’re engaging with an existing group of students and there’s a Student Union exec officer on the SEAtS project team who represents student interests.
We’ll be sharing more information between now and the start of the next academic year. If you have any queries in the meantime, please email engagementanalytics@manchester.ac.uk
