Houseplant Sale Events (4th – 5th)
The plant sale returns to the Student’s Union for the last time this year. There’ll be thousands of plants, with over 150 different types, in all shapes and sizes. Grab something to brighten up your room.
Overnight trip to Edinburgh (9th – 10th)
A bustling and vibrant city, steeped in history and host to a variety of colourful activities throughout the year, there is no shortage of things to do in Edinburgh. Join this adventure up North with travel and accommodation provided.
Reclaim The Night March (21st)
A student-led campaign, Reclaim The Night aims to bring an end to gender-based violence. The objectives this year are to lobby the council to provide 24-hour service on student bus routes, ensure employers of students guarantee safe transport home after late-night shifts and make the council’s Women’s Night-time Safety Charter inclusive of trans people.
Art & Culture
Museum of Illusions (All Month)
Enter the fascinating world of illusions where nothing is ever quite as it seems. This highly anticipated new attraction promises a captivating experience for visitors of all ages, immersing them in a world of optical illusions and interactive exhibits designed to challenge your perception.
Comedy Nights at Frog and Bucket (Every Friday)
As well as hosting many well-known names throughout the UK comedy circuit, Frog and Bucket has a Barrel of Laughs event each Friday which is sure to give you a good laugh at the end of the week.
There’s no Place (From 15th)
This autumn, the Whitworth presents There’s no Place a new exhibition by acclaimed Thai artist Jakkai Siributr. Exploring ideas of home and belonging, this collaborative embroidery piece creates an ongoing dialogue between the artist, the community of Koung Jor Shan Refugee Camp and viewers around the world.
Gigs & Live Events
MTV Music Awards 2024 (10th)
The MTV EMAs are coming to Manchester! Broadcasting from the new Co-op Live arena, the show will unite music’s brightest stars, reaching over 150 countries. The lineup includes Shawn Mendes, RAYE, Benson Boone and Teddy Swims with Rita Ora hosting.
Still Woozy (10th)
American singer and songwriter hits the Albert Hall this month, with tickets still available. Goodie Bags are possibly included.
Blossoms (23rd)
Manchester’s own Indie rock outfit embark on a mini-Manchester tour in support of their new album Gary. They’ll be playing the Academy, Victoria Warehouse, The Ritz and O2 Apollo. Did you know the album is based on the true story of Gary the 8-foot fibreglass Gorilla being stolen from Reynard Garden in Scotland?
Fontanes D.C (29th)
The Irish post-punk band take on Factory International for two nights at the end of the month. They were my Favourite for a while (they still are, it’s a pun).
Sports
Reclaim Charity Football Match (15th)
Grab a free ticket to watch Senior University Staff, including the President and Vice Chancellor Duncan Ivison, play in Reclaim’s first ever football match. This is a friendly match to have fun whilst raising awareness about nighttime safety for marginalised gender communities.
UoM Sport: Sporticipate (All Month)
Join our free, fun sports sessions! Open to all students and skill levels, the Armitage Centre offers a variety of sports to try out weekly. Follow the link to the full schedule.
