Celebrate Student Volunteering Week and make a difference!

Student Volunteering Week is here, and there’s no better time to get involved, give back, and be part of something bigger! This week we’re celebrating the incredible impact that student volunteers make—both locally and globally.

Whether you’re looking to gain new skills, meet like-minded people, or simply make a positive change, there are plenty of ways to take part. Here’s how you can get involved:

Volunteer abroad in Rwanda this summer

Applications are now open for Team Rwanda 2025—an incredible opportunity to volunteer in Rwanda from mid-July to mid-August. This partnership between the University and Azizi Life, a social enterprise in Rwanda, allows students to work on community-driven projects such as:

✅ Supporting local artisans to create sustainable businesses

✅ Helping improve adult literacy in the community

✅ Collaborating with Rwandan volunteers to create lasting change

We’re looking for 14 passionate student volunteers to take part in this life-changing experience. If you’re ready for a challenge and want to make a real difference, apply now!

Join us at the Big Volunteer Day on Wednesday

Big Volunteer Day is back and we want to make it bigger than ever! Join us as we work with Ardwick Climate Action to increase the biodiversity of the Brunswick area of Ardwick and make it cleaner and greener.

The day includes planting hedges, lavender, bulbs and other plants, as well as building and installing bird boxes around the area. We’ll be joining forces with residents, but we need as many volunteers as possible to complete all the tasks we have planned!

Our meeting point is in the SU foyer from 9am, but you can join us any time between 10am and 3pm.
