We are thrilled to announce that students can now sign up for the Microsoft Fundamentals Certifications pilot and access everything they need to prepare for and book a certification assessment this term.
This initiative is part of our Flexible Learning programme, introduced in collaboration with The Library and aims to provide students with valuable skills in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data science and more. Please note that this is still a pilot, and access to take a certification will be on a first come, first served basis.
What is the Microsoft Fundamentals Certification?
Microsoft Fundamentals Certifications are designed to help students understand cloud computing, explore career paths in AI, data science, and cloud computing. The certifications offered include:
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
- Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900)
- Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900)
- Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900)
- Microsoft Power Platforms Fundamentals (PL-900)
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Fundamentals CRM (MB-910)
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Fundamentals ERP (MB-920)
- Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900).

- Enhance Your CV and gain recognition for your skills: Certifications from a trusted source like Microsoft can significantly boost your employability by showcasing your skills to potential employers.

- Free Access: University of Manchester students can complete these certifications for free before the end of July 2025. As this is a pilot scheme, these places will be limited.
- Comprehensive Training: Access training content and practice tests via the G-Metrix platform to ensure you are well-prepared for the certification exams.
How to get started
To get started, follow this guide and set up your G-Metrix account using your University Microsoft 365 account. Once setup, request an access code and redeem it on the G-Metrix platform to access training materials and practice tests. Choose your course, study, and take practice tests to ensure you are ready.
When you are prepared, set up a Certiport account and book your test slot on campus at The University of Manchester Library. On the day of the exam, bring your student ID card, Certiport email, and password. You will receive your result immediately after the exam and certificates can be accessed from your Certiport account.
