The University of Manchester is thrilled to announce the 2025 Postgraduate Research Showcase, set to take place on Tuesday, 17th June 2025, from 10am at Whitworth Hall and Christie’s Bistro. This event promises to be a fantastic opportunity for postgraduate researchers (PGRs) to share their work, connect with peers, and engage with the broader university community.

The showcase aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and increase the visibility of research conducted by PGRs. Participants can look forward to a variety of events throughout the day, including:

• Research Exhibition / Competition: Present a 90-second Elevator Pitch about your research, complemented by supplementary materials such as posters, images, music, or videos. This judged competition offers a £350 prize for the top presenter in each Faculty. Register by Friday, 16th May 2025.

• Research in Action Image Competition: Submit an image that captures the essence of your research and participate in an audience vote to win up to £150. View and vote for the images at the event. Submit your image by Friday, 2nd May.

• Guest Speaker: Dr. Jamie Gallagher – Periodic Success: Join Dr. Jamie Gallagher for an interactive and explosive research communication masterclass as he explores the history and future of The Periodic Table. 

• Facilitated Networking (14:00 – 14:45): Engage in structured activities designed to build meaningful research connections across disciplines. 

• MDC Excellence Awards & Reception (15:00 – 16:30, Christie’s Bistro): Celebrate the achievements of fellow PGRs and competition winners over drinks. 

This showcase is an excellent opportunity for PGRs to present their research in an engaging and accessible manner while networking with peers and faculty members. Attendees will also have the chance to complete the PGR Voice survey and take home a free house plant.
