A message from your Wellbeing and Liberation Officer

“Hey everyone!

This is Sharon Mary Dominic Raj, your newly elected Wellbeing and Liberation Officer, and I’d like to begin by wishing you a very happy World Mental Health Day!

Mental health is very personal to me. I’ve always been captivated by the human mind and our emotional world; I studied psychology for my bachelor’s degree and fell in love with it. Later, I pursued a master’s degree in international human resource management, which seemed like an odd turn of events at the time, but I was motivated by my desire to improve employee well-being. My dissertation, titled “EDI Backlash in the USA,” looked into why the backlash happened and the factors surrounding it.

Now, in my role as your Wellbeing and Liberation Officer, my goal is simple: to bridge the gap between the support that already exists and the awareness that’s sometimes missing. There is a lot of support available, but misinformation or ambiguity often prevents people from seeking it. I want to change that.

Today, on World Mental Health Day, let us take a moment to care for ourselves and each other. Remember that mental health well-being is a right, not a luxury.
