Respect Week: A safer campus starts with us

Respect Week runs from 10–14 November, bringing together two key awareness events — National Hate Crime Awareness Week and North West Sexual Violence Awareness Week — under one shared theme: Respect.

By combining these important awareness themes, we’re taking the opportunity to focus on how we can all play a role in building a respectful, inclusive community, free from hate, harassment and gender-based violence.

Throughout the week, we’ll be hosting a series of events and activities to raise awareness, share support resources, and encourage everyone in our university community to take action — whether that’s by learning how to be an active bystander, reporting something that doesn’t feel right, or simply having a conversation about respect.

Why Respect Week matters

Respect Week is about standing together to say that hate, harassment and sexual violence have no place in our community.

Whether you’re a student, staff member, or visitor — we all have a role to play in creating a culture where everyone feels safe, supported and respected.

 Need support?

If you’ve experienced or witnessed something that’s made you feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or disrespected, you can report it and access support through the University’s Report + Support platform – whether you choose to do so anonymously or with your name.
