We are delighted to invite postgraduate researchers to the University’s Research Communications Conference on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, from 9am, at the Core Technology Facility.
This popular one-day event is open to researchers, academics, and communications professionals to explore the latest trends and best practices in sharing and promoting research.
This year, President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Duncan Ivison, will open the conference, followed by a researcher panel chaired by Professor Colette Fagan, Vice-President for Research.
Speakers (Prof Alice Larkin, Drs Joanne Pennock and Jasmin Ramovi, and Kate Tidman) will discuss the benefits of communicating research beyond academia and collaborating with communications teams.
We also have a special guest speaker, Fiona Fox, OBE, Chief Executive of the Science Media Centre, following lunch.

- Practical sessions on generating media coverage, writing for The Conversation, and developing social media strategies,
- Working with policy makers (delivered by Policy@Manchester),
- How to help researchers build and maintain their Pure profiles,
- Public engagement – taking your research out and about, and
- Generative AI and research communications – emerging tools and challenges.
There will be plenty of networking opportunities with colleagues from across the University, lightning talks, and the chance to book 1-2-1s with our communications specialists.
