Summer graduation ceremonies will be taking place in Whitworth Hall from Monday, 13 July to Monday, 27 July 2026.
If you’re graduating this summer, then it’s coming up to the time you’ll be starting to think about your graduation ceremony and what you need to do beforehand. To help, we’ve got together a list of dates and deadlines you need to know about, so you know what to expect and can start planning ahead for the big day!

🎓Registration
Registration is now open and closes on Friday, 3 July 2026. Invitations to register online have now been emailed to you. If you have not received an invite by the start of April but believe you should be graduating this summer, then please email graduation@manchester.ac.uk so we can look into this further.
🎓Relaxed graduation ceremony
We will be hosting a special Relaxed graduation ceremony, designed to provide a comfortable, accessible and inclusive environment for all our students who would prefer a more pared-back experience. The ceremony will be held on Monday, 27 July 2026 at 1pm and 3pm.
🎓Outstanding payments
To attend graduation, all outstanding fees must be paid by 5pm on Friday, 3 July 2026. Please note that payments made via bank transfer may take up to 10 working days to appear on a student’s account.

🎓Gowning
The deadline to hire your academic dress from our supplier Ede and Ravenscroft is Monday, 29 June 2026. If you forget to pre-order your gown, the hire cost on the day will be higher than the prices above.
🎓Photography
Tempest is the official graduation photographers for the University. They offer a variety of photo opportunities for your graduation day. You can choose between the Classic or Signature Studio* options. They also capture the important moment you cross the stage during your ceremony. Find out more about both options.
*Signature Studio can be booked and paid for on Tempest’s website. The sitting fee is £50 (this does not include the cost of the selected photos).
🎓Guest tickets
Guest tickets can be requested during the online registration process. We guarantee two guest tickets if requested during the registration process. Live streaming of the ceremony will be available to watch on campus and at home.
