We’ve been listening to your feedback, and from Tuesday 23 June, the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is launching a new website and a new way to get in touch with us.
What’s changing?
The new website will make it easier to find information about how we can support you with your mental health at university — including what to do if you’re experiencing a mental health crisis.
We’re also replacing our current First Step Appointments with a new self-referral form. This means you’ll no longer need to call us or explain your situation over the phone just to book an appointment. You can find the form, and more information about how it works, on our new website from 23 June.
When can I use the self-referral form?
As we get started with this new system, the form will be open at the following times:
- Monday 9am – Wednesday 5pm (including overnight on Monday and Tuesday nights)
The form will be paused on Thursdays and Fridays while our staff review what you’ve shared and find you an appointment. After 8 weeks, we’ll review how the new system is working — and we’d love to hear what you think.
Other ways to get support
The MHST continues to be open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm for pre-arranged appointments.
You can also access Spectrum Life, our affiliated Student Assistance Programme, which offers one-to-one support calls with trained counsellors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you have any questions or feedback about the new self-referral process, get in touch at MHSTgeneralenquiries@manchester.ac.uk.
