Summer 2026 graduates: Your careers support explained

Congratulations to all Summer 2026 graduates! Although your degree programme may have ended, you can still access support from the Careers Service for a further two years. We have bespoke appointments and events just for graduates,  online resources, and much more available for you.

Here are the best ways to get started on your career journey as a new graduate:

1. Talk to us at graduation

The Careers Service team will be on hand to answer any of your careers related questions. Drop-in to The Atrium desk on the First Floor of University Place from 12-2pm on:

  • Tuesday, 14 July
  • Thursday, 16 July
  • Tuesday, 21 July
  • Thursday, 23 July

Whether you know what you want to do or just figuring out your next steps, we’ll be here to answer any of your queries.

2. Activate your graduate CareerConnect account

After you graduate, you can continue to use CareerConnect in the same way you did as a student. You will be able to access it by using your student email until that expires.

Once this happens, all you have to do is register for a free graduate CareerConnect account. Simply click on the ‘Graduate sign in and registration’ option and register using your personal email address and alumni ID number (the same as your student ID number).

Your account should then be approved by a member of our team within 3-5 working days.

3. Book a careers appointment

As a recent graduate you will have access to one-to-one careers appointments with a member of our team.

These include CV reviewspractice interviews and careers appointments exclusively for graduates.

You can book these appointments through CareerConnect.

4. Stay in touch

Follow the Careers Service on Instagram to keep up to date with everything that’s going on. We also have a Recent Graduate Careers Network on LinkedIn, with over 3,000 UoM alumni, where we regularly post about vacancies and exciting opportunities for graduates.

If you’re looking for your first graduate job, and what to stay in Manchester, explore our Manchester Graduate Talent vacancies.

You can also apply to our Graduate Career Mentoring programme which closes for applications on Sunday, 2 August.

5. Update your contact details

To make sure that our Alumni team can help you, please tell them about any changes to your contact details in the student system before your IT account closes. After your account closes, use the change your personal details form to stay in touch with the University. By ensuring the University has your most up-to-date contact details, you will also receive the Graduate Outcomes survey 15 months after you finish your course.
