Manchester 2035: co-design the University’s new strategy

Imagine it’s 2035, and our University has transformed the world for the better. How did we do it? What role did you play?

These questions are at the heart of the process to create Manchester 2035, a new strategy for the next decade that we’re co-creating with the entire University community, including our students.

Why your voice matters

As a current student, you might wonder how relevant a long-term strategy is to your university experience. Here’s why your involvement is important:

  • You’ll influence student experiences both now and in the future: while the strategy looks ahead to 2035, many changes will be put in place much sooner, benefitting you and your peers during your time at Manchester.
  • You can tell us which pressing global issues matter to you and where our University could be generating more impact, truly changing the world for the better.

You will also receive £15 in vouchers for your participation in each workshop.

We need your views on three critical areas:

  • Reimagining our student experiences (Workshops running between 16 and 22 October)
  • Accelerating our research impact (For PGT and PGR students: Workshops running between 24 October and 12 November)
  • Advancing our social responsibility: (Workshops running between 11 and 20 November)

What to expect in the workshops:

We need your bold, creative thinking to reimagine what’s possible. Over the next two months, we’re inviting you to imagine different future worlds for our University – will we be a place where every student crafts their own interdisciplinary degree, could we turn our campus into a living lab for sustainability? It’s your big ideas that will shape our future.

The workshops will be led by:

  • Future Leaders: Recent University of Manchester graduates with fresh perspectives on student life.
  • Your Students’ Union Executive Team: They’ve co-designed these workshops to address current student needs and concerns.
