With exams and the end of the year fast approaching, we know this can be a stressful time. That’s why we’ve put everything together in one place to help you through the exams and assessment period – from study support to finding your room and most importantly, looking after your wellbeing.
Get ready ahead of time
Alongside studying for your exams, make sure you find the time to get prepared with the practicalities too. Take a minute to read through our exam guidance to make sure you know what is expected of you for both in-person or online assessments – from what you can bring to the exam hall to where to get help if you have a problem on the day.
Lastly, make sure you’ve checked your exam timetable and find your exam room ahead of time with our interactive campus map.
If you have online assessments make sure that you take a look at the specific advice and guidance including accessing technical support and check that your 2-factor authentication from Duo is fully set up,
Feel confident with our exams support
There’s lots of support you can access to help you feel prepared and confident as your exams approach. The Library has specialised assessment support, including practical workshops, drop in support and revision guides as well as sessions to support your wellbeing run by the Counselling Service.
You should also familiarise yourself with our advice on ways to avoid academic malpractice, and the university’s guidance on plagiarism and other forms of academic malpractice.
And don’t forget, past papers are a great way to improve your exam technique and you can search by subject for them on the exams website, where you’ll also find hints and tips for revision.
We’ve also put together some handy tips for the night before and morning of your exam.
Look after yourself
It’s important to eat well, sleep well and take breaks. Be sure to spend some time relaxing and doing things you enjoy and things that help take care of your wellbeing. As part of our Harm Reduction approach, we have some tips to reduce the risks associated with study drugs if this is something you choose to engage with this exam period.
Moving is a great way to keep mind and body well, especially if we’re overwhelmed or stressed. UoM Sport have a specific De-stess timetable of activities including a wide and varied range of accessible, and inclusive sport and relaxation as well as free daily access to the Armitage Gym. But movement doesn’t have to be anything organised, remember a quick walk can clear your mind and refresh your brain.
