Starting Monday, February 24, the Muriel Stott Building in the main library and its courtyard will be closed to students for up to two weeks. Work will be taking place as part of the building’s redevelopment plans.
Contractors will be on site from Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm for essential tree removal work. We’re working with the University’s Environmental Sustainability team to protect existing trees as much as possible and to plant replacement trees elsewhere on campus where required in line with the Library Spaces and University Tree Planting Policy. The wood chips from the removed trees and shrubs will be used as mulch around campus to help control weeds and support growth. The fence that separates the staff area from the student area will also be permanently taken down as part of this project.
There will be noise disruption during this time, and we advise students to use alternative spaces in Main Library and across Library sites. We apologise for any inconvenience.
We will update our Library social media channels for any updates about Muriel Stott re-opening.
